It came pretty fast, it works as it is supposed to, I personally like it for my particular uses, and because it was freaking cheap. I am therefore giving it five stars for disproving my fears. Because anything that sorta sucked was easily fixed with just a little computer skills.
I forsaw all sorts of problems and feared the worst as I generally have horrible luck. When the player arrived I was skeptical. I can't handle that because that is a looong list since I have alot of songs by most of the artists I have.BUT, I came home and gave it another shot. SO I read all these reviews after I bought this player but before it arrived. Some of the reviews actually freaked me out and made me worry quite a bit.
I just dragged my entire folder of artists and music into the player folder and it showed up just the way I had it organized in my computer. So I was happy with that.and actually like it better than ipod because I can arrange it nearly any way I want to.Overall I was scared at first and very satisfied now. After I gave it a few minutes, got used to the way it worked, and worked out organizing it I am in love with it.I think most of the reviews people left where they had alot of problems was just a lack of computer/electronics skills. Seriously for what it is, that is an excellent price and I have no complaints.I almost expected it to suck because it was cheap. However it is good quality for the extremely low price. It came in a small box that sorta was a rip off of the ipod packaging (this is a replacement for my 80gb ipod classic.altho that was gift). At first I was aggrivated that the touch screen wasn't too sensative.
After I had messed with it for a little bit I figured out how to use the touch screen and now I like it just fine.I also was frustrated that when I loaded about 1/3 of my music onto the player through Windows Media Player it took a long time, and the music was just in one big long list, not seperated by artist.
If your PC cannot see the device from the beginning it could be a driver issue, or in some cases other devices on your PC could be interfering. I have 2 Zvue and this wins hands down along with being much less cumbersome. I was very surprised by this unit, I now wish I had purchased the 16GB, simply because if it works as well, it is worth the few dollars difference to save time not converting video. Having been involved in generic electronics for some time this is almost always a good sign. The quality of video playback is excellent for a small player like this. Music playback is great and the earphones that come with it are fine, although a little uncomfortable for me. If your computer fails to see the device after a firmware upgrade, you will need to manually un-install the device from your Device Manager, the re-connect the device and power it on, that should do it.
But make sure and download the latest version from PE support [.].Also placing all your videos into one folder before converting can save you a lot of time since the software can do batch conversion, or many files at a time. There are also device drivers for older OS on the disk provided by the manufacturer. The software for converting video could be no easier to use.
All the features have easy access from the main screen, simple and straight forward, Music, Video, Camera, etc. If you have the know how you temporarily disable the onboard reader in the Device Manager and try connecting the player.
The unit arrived on time and came in very impressive packaging for knock off electronics. Some built in card readers can have problems with Rock Chip devices.
Suprisingly some digital movie copies i have didn't need any conversion.I only held back the one star because I have just received the player and I will update my review after I have put it through it's paces. A manufacturer of crappy product will not waste money on packaging. The device is simple to use and the stylus works fine for the touchscreen.
I picked up a nice set of gels today. As far as people having problems with the device not being seen on the PC there are a couple things to remember.
i am pleased got here fast, lots of features, easy to use, works better than expected. can store a lot of stuff on it.
I am of the older genreation (41) and have never used a mp3 player, but this thing was like trying to learn Chinese (literally and figuratively). I bought this for my daughter who was turning 10. (I should have done that in the first place). I sent it back and ordered something more expensive. It is a piece of junk. I plugged it into the computer and nothing came up.
What next. Bought this for my 15 year old for Christmas 2008 and it stopped working two days later- on December 27, 2008. The item looks great and is a great price but poor value if it has such a short useful life. It's very costly to return (again). The company very kindly repaired and returned it to me. My daughter got 4 more weeks of use out of it before the touch screen died.
